Thoroughbred Park’s function centre bustling with September events

More than a racecourse, Thoroughbred Park hosts an ever-increasing number of community events ranging from small corporate events to significant conferences and festivals.

September is shaping as one of the busiest months in the venue’s history with dozens of important and exciting community events to take place across the flexible indoor and outdoor spaces.

The Canberra Stamp Show (12th – 15th September) is Australia’s only National Stamp show in 2024 and will attract thousands of collectors from near and far to Thoroughbred Park.

The four-day event allows collectors and enthusiasts to immerse themselves in exhibits, snap up treasures for collection, connect with others, explore trade dealers’ stands, and create lasting and happy memories in Canberra.

In the same space, only a few days later, one of Australia’s largest paint brands Dulux will host their Trade Show (19th September) that includes educational seminars and gives attendees the opportunity to try the latest innovation, products and technology in decorative finishes.

The Emergency Services Agency will host their Family Day (21st September) across much of the Thoroughbred Park venue with Canberra’s best food vans alongside entertainment, live demonstrations and activities.

The meaningful event provides hardworking volunteers who keep our community safe, with an enjoyable day out with the people they love.

Only a day later, German Auto Day (22nd September) will be the year’s second major motorsport event held at Thoroughbred Park after the inaugural Canberra Festival of Speed, featuring a purpose-built exhibition circuit was held in March.

The German Auto Day is a celebration that spans generations of automotive excellence, showcasing classics alongside the latest innovations in German engineering from BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Porsche, Volkswagen and more.

Visitors will be treated to a dazzling display of luxury vehicles, sleek sports cars, powerful SUVs, motorcycles and eco-friendly electric vehicles. Each vehicle showcased at the show symbolizes the relentless pursuit of perfection that has become synonymous with German automotive excellence.

Wine Wise (9th – 12th September) will keep the Light Rail stop adjacent to Thoroughbred Park busy throughout the month with tastings of select Australian wines for vinophiles.

Synonymous with racing, Spring represents a busy time for the Canberra Racing Club who will host three race days, each with various events held on the respective days.

The highlight of these race days is the Hops & Hooves Festival Race Day (28th September), which combines a beer, wine and spirits festival with a race meeting. The Hops & Hooves Festival showcases some of the best artisan brewers, distillers and winemakers of Canberra and surrounding regions.

2024 marks the third annual Hops & Hooves Festival which is expected to attract over 3,000 patrons.
