Tejori Aiming to Maintain Perfect Home Record

Nick Olive’s Tejori will return to her home track on Friday 22 January as she looks to recapture the form that saw her become a TAB Highway winner back in May 2020. The four-year-old daughter of Hinchinbrook boasts a perfect record at Thoroughbred Park and will look to make it three wins from three attempts in Canberra when she lines up in Friday’s TAB Federal over the 1200m.

Tejori was cuddled to the line when winning a trial at Canberra on 13 January beating home Super Riff and Newtown Bluebag. Trainer Nick Olive is hopeful that his star mare has overcome some niggling issues.

“We’re quite hopeful we’ve got Tejori back somewhere near her best” Olive said. “Her last start performance was obviously very out of character and she’s had some issues with her fetlock.”

“We’re hoping the track isn’t rock hard and if she’s anywhere near her best she’s going to be very competitive tomorrow.”

Ron Weston & John Nisbet’s Our Finvarra enters the contest third-up and ready to peak according to co-Trainer Ron Weston.

“Both of his runs this preparation have been really good” Weston said “they probably went a bit fast for him early last week and left him a bit flat footed, so we think he will relish the step up to 1200m”.

Our Finvarra, a 7-year-old gelding by Krupt, finished just 1.2 lengths behind the City-bound Affinity Beyond last start and factors as a major player in this contest after drawing favorably with Barrier 5.

Natalie Jarvis’s Kattegat enters the TAB Federal in a rich vein of form, with three runs this preparation returning a win as well as two placings in two TAB Highways while Danielle Sieb’s Mr Kylin finished just 3 lengths back in the $242,500 Magic Millions Country Cup last start.

Earlier in the day, the John McGrath Auto Group Handicap will see a number of 2-year-olds make their debuts including Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott’s State Capitalist, a Capitalist colt who sold for $375,000 as a yearling.
