Racing & Sports Canberra Racing Preview — Tuesday 3 November 2020

The track is rated a Heavy 8 in race eve but with fine weather forecast through to race day it may present better than that. The rail position is +5m the entire. It’s a good competitive program and The Federal will be another cracking affair.

Race 1 (2000m) BM60

Appetizing like to roll in the lead and can set the tempo. APPETIZING (1) missed a lip here 25 days ago this trip at better level on a heavy track. He should get conditions to suit and will be hard to beat running along from the handy gate. HAPPY HUSTLER (6) got close the latest at Kembla up to this distance on a slow track and ran a good relative figure. He always puts in and gets his chance. BULWARK (4) improved sharply just missing at Nowra and didn't get it easy. Gets the low gate and leading hoop and is a player holding that form. LADY KIRKHAM (3) won at the mile two-back and has trialled in town following the disappointing run at Goulburn. First time at the middle distance and will get every chance to see it out drawn the rail with the 3kg claim. BET: # 1 Appetising gets favours and the nod in a competitive race.

Race 2 (1000m) BM60

The speedy Attuned likely to find the front with Fountain Of Youth and Byblos Boy hot on his heels. This is tricky and the market will be instructive. CHARLIE CHAP (3) will present at peak fitness and is back in class. Was just nudged out twice here before being out-graded at Hawkesbury and should prove hard to beat on the bounce. EQUASPECIAL (2 won twice in Victoria before the spell and looked in need of the run resuming at Scone for the new yard. Gets Ward and some gear tweaks and is capable of sharp improvement. FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH (6) is a Victorian resuming for the new yard and creates interest. She did nothing the last preparation but has performed well fresh in the past. McDougall's booked suggesting she is pleasing and the market will tell the story. HARD CORE (1) resumes and has been racing in stronger class. Expect him to be ready to go and the 2kg claim helps with the hefty weight. ATTUNED (4) is a leader who deserved the CL1 win before fading out at Bathurst. He will control the race and is worth another chance. BET: Leaning to #3 Charlie Chap in a good contest.

Race 3 (1300m) CL1

Aerobatic Warrior is likely to stride to the lead with Wandonna and Sucrose on his heels. AEROBATIC WARRIOR (1) runs along and brings very strong form to peak. Placed here on debut and has won and just missed since at Muswellbrook heavily-bet. Gets the blinkers first time and can bounce using the low gate and with the form hoop reunited. WANDONNA (3) had been threatening and won the Maiden by 7L here 11 days ago. McDougall gets off to ride the above but no surprise at all if she went right on with it. MIMESIS (5) improved sharply winning the Maiden here second-up on the slow. She impressed and her figure stacks right up. She should get every chance to make it a double. AZOUSTIC (2) will be better for the two runs back and has plenty up the sleeve. He's in the mix. BET: #1 Aerobatic Warrior is hard to go past.

Race 4 (1300m) Mdn SW

No noted leader and the speed may come from the wider drawn. DAKSHA (1) brought strong provincial from to resumption and was just beaten as favourite. He'd trialled well into that and is clearly the one to beat with Ward using the low gate. KERMATIN (15) was in the market on debut and got too far back. The leading local yard will have him fitter and McDougall stays with him and would have had choices. ONE MAN BAND (6) keeps stepping up and falling short. The Dale yard is sticking with him and no surprise today if he improves into the finish. FIVE STAR MISS (10) is another local and she resumes off four solid initial efforts. Expect her to be come back better but the wide gate requires a good ride. BET: #1 Daksha should be winning for the Widdup yard.

Race 5 (1000m) Mdn

Expecting She'll Be Apples to set a strong early tempo. A tricky race and the market will be instructive. SAMASAY (11) resumes for a city yard and has looked sharp in her two recent trials. They suggest she has good ability and she finds a winnable initial assignment. SHE'LL BE APPLES (12) won a trial and then led and just missed at Bathurst on debut. She stuck on gamely and she should go close fitter and drawn to control the race. STOLTZ (4) had good support in town on debut and things didn't work out. Resumes for the new yard as a gelding and has trialled solidly in town. Keep a very close eye on the betting. HAYYU (8) and A REAL WAG (1) both debut for the local Vella barn with the blinkers on and their trials suggest they will win races. The betting will tell with them as well. BET: #11 Samasay should prove hard to beat if the market suggests stable confidence.

Race 6 (1600m) CL1

The large field should run along okay but there's no designated leader. RIVERSTOCK (9) is lightly-raced and improved sharply second-up winning the Maiden easily at Albury heavily-bet. McDougall sticks from that and she will be suited at the mile. She looks right up to taking the next step. AUBURN BOY (1) has had one blip in a string of placings and there was nothing in it the latest at the provincials. Ward's booking is a plus and he's a danger. JOPHIEL (13) has been mixing distances and go on his lip defeat here two back at this trip on the heavy. He keeps Cahill and should manage the drop-back to the mile. IN MY WALLET (6) won the Maiden comfortably at Wagga and then was only beaten 2.2L here and four winners have come out of that. Forgiving her most recent run in the Albury CL2 in deep conditions. OVERFLOWING (3) peaks and goes in at odds. BET: Expecting #9 Riverstock to be hard to beat again.

Race 7 (1300m) BM70 — Federal

Genuine tempo with Mr Kylin leading the way over Mookareena. Another competitive Federal. MR KYLIN (7) seeks the hat-trick off big Goulburn wins with the latest in a 66. He didn't miss by far at Randwick before that and can control the race from the rail. Gets the winkers first time and looks the one to beat. MOOKAREENA (8) returned to form winning second-up at Kembla Grange as the market expected. Made a big ratings spike on recent efforts and there’s every chance she can go on with it now. HEMMERLE (5) resumes for the new yard and is up to this at best. He goes fresh and gets a handy claim and low gate. The market will say if he's ready. ROYAL MONARCH (3) just missed twice here at this level before delivering the 66 win at Nowra. Keeps holding a good level of form and is also a contender. BET: This sets up well for #7 Mr Kylin.

Race 8 BM65 (1600m)

Not sure who leads but they should run along okay. BUZZ 'N' JOE (11) has just missed both runs back and still has more to give. Gets the blinkers again and weight relief in this grade and fitter should go close. DIP ME LID (8) was better second-up and the lift to the mile will suit. In the leading local yard and the form hoop is back on. Should be ready to fire. MY EMPIRE (4) will be fancied off the Queanbeyan win with Ward sticking. He's a genuine winning hope but needs a good ride. NICHOLAS (6) is ex-Queensland resuming for Joseph-Jones and is good enough. He will race over further but has won fresh and keep him very safe. BET: Think #11 Buzz ‘N’ Joe can win and may present at an each way quote.
