Racing & Sports Canberra Preview - 11 December 2022

With fine weather in Canberra the track will present in the good range. The rail is out 10m and is likely to advantage on-pacers. A good solid program with a decent representation of gallopers from some of Sydney’s best barns.

Race 1 (1200) CL1

ENZINA (1) is in a top Sydney barn and was bet 2-1 here third-up and faded after sharing the speed. Brought promising provincial form to that and fitter will be very hard to beat drawn to advantage. FLOWER PRESS (3) resumes for the Ible yard and is right up to this if presented ready. The sharp trials suggest she is and she's capable of using the rail. NEGATION (4) came home well just missing in the Enzina race and she's a second-up winner. Has more up the sleeve and is sure to give a sight. PATRIKA MIST (6) resumes for Ible and has ability. May need one but is a betting watch.

BET: Backing Enzina.

Race 2 (1300m) BM60

SEMANA (10) could make it a double for the sharp Maher-Eustace stable. Just missed on debut before being nudged out at Gosford as favourite. That reads well for this and despite the awkward gate he can break through fitter again. MIL CIENTO (2) brings strong provincial form to peak and can sit handier today. Deserves the win and should be right in it. DIAMOND CLASS (1) comes back to a sprint off a 40-day freshen. A 3x winning rider is re-united and she may surprise. GRAVY TRAIN MAGPIE (9) resumes for the Valla barn and expect her to be presented ready. Has the outside gate but she's speedy and rates to give a sight.

BET: Keen on Semana.

Race 3 (1400m) CL2 SW

PACIFIC FORCE (1) is Sydney-trained and has been around the mark at the provincials. He's suited today and will take beating draws well and racing at peak fitness. Stablemate KARAOKE KING (8) improved again just beaten at Newcastle. He will settle back but looks capable of coming over them. TIP TOP TIMING (6) resumes and just missed here at the mile before the break. Will race over further but has trialled well and Penza is a key jockey booking. She will race handy and keep onside. SELFIE TIME (2) has been solid at the provincials both runs back and has plenty up the sleeve. Has a wide gate but is a player all the same. HARDERTHANTHEREST (11) won here the latest here in easier but gets weight relief and respect the barn.

BET: Leaning to Pacific Force.

Race 4 (1200m) Maiden

Tricky. SO YOU PENCE (9) missed a lip on debut for the sharp Matt Dale yard. Draws low and fitter she can go one better. HOBBSY (4) debuts and has trialled well. Has an awkward gate but a bold run is likely. FIRE AND GEMSTONE (8) resumes for the local barn with the blinkers applied first time. Won a recent trial here suggesting he'll come back much better. Owen rides and is sure to use the low barrier. ROUGE LUNE (7) went close on debut and it was a good effort. He also draws out, but fitter should get his chance. SHALLELUJAH (12) is an improver from the Dale barn with the blinkers applied first time. Has to be kept onside.

BET: Backing So You Pence.

Race 5 (2000m) CL1 SW

EL BRAVO (5) has been mixing trips and just missed at Kembla Grange the latest back to the mile. Found one better here prior this trip and gets another chance. ALL ABOUT OLLIE (1) brings a big Gosford Maiden win at 1900m and couldn't have been more impressive. Draws low and Penza is a key jockey booking. Fitter and he's a strong chance to repeat. GENJIRO (2) needs a good ride but was just beaten here this trip the latest in better grade. In the mix. SHAFTY (4) brings a dominant Maiden win and is in the mix pushing forward in receipt of a small claim.

BET: El Bravo each way.

Race 6 (1600m) Bm65

GLOWING GOLD (10) is in one of the nation's leading barns and deserved the comfortable Bathurst Maiden win. Races handy and tipping she can take the next step lifting to the mile. DIP ME LID (2) flew home beaten 1L here in Open grade surprising the market. Has the handy 3kg claim in easier and third-up the mile suits. Dryden stablemate SWEET HONESTY (4) won here this grade and trip and keeps improving. Has to push forward from a wide gate today and that makes it harder. CASINO TIME (7) won the 60 here easily three back over a middle distance. May need a wet track but can't ruled out coming back to the mile.

BET: Going with Glowing Gold.

Race 7 (1000m) BM70 - Federal

PRETTY WOMAN (2) is promising and was beaten 1.7L resuming at Randwick. She is better suited here and has the winkers on the first time. She's been freshened and will race handy. Goes second up and is sure to take beating. STAR TO FALL (12) couldn't have been more impressive on debut winning the Maiden here by almost 6L from the front. Stays down in the weights and has the speed to clear the wide gate. Looks a decent chance to repeat. EMMA'S GIFT (7) has been briefly freshened since the comfortable 60 win here. Back to the shorter sprint shouldn't bother and she can secure the run of the race. DEVINE MISS (4) resumed three weeks ago with a solid Queanbeyan placing. She has plenty up the sleeve but needs a good ride from the awkward barrier.

BET: Pretty Woman finds the right race. Star To Fall the sub.

Race 8 (1400m) Mdn SW

Tricky. TURBO CHARGED (12) peaks for a Sydney barn and was only beaten 1.3L at Hawkesbury the latest bet 3-1. That's good form and she only has to manage the wide barrier to take beating. XTRAREVZ (6) resumed here and was just beaten when expected to need it. Draws to advantage and Penza is a key jockey switch. Should go close. RISE TO IT (4) was slow off and only beaten 2.3L at Beaumont (Newcastle) on debut. Draws out but is sure to have been improved by one of the nation's best barns. KENICHI (3) is also Sydney-trained and brings a string of trials to debut. The latest was good and she will come off the rail. Keep very safe. MISTER HEMSWORTH (13) is a former UK galloper on resumption and is also in good hands. Has been away a long time but has the ability and is a betting watch should she take her place.

BET: Turbo Charged with the race fitness and experience.
