Racing to Return to Thoroughbred Park on TAB Melbourne Cup Day

The Canberra Racing Club is thrilled to announce that racing will return to the Capital on Tuesday 2 November, TAB Melbourne Cup Day. With today's announcement from the ACT Government that travel to all of New South Wales will be open with restrictions to high risk LGA’s only, the Club is now able to source the Jockeys it needs to conduct a race meeting.

The Club is working closely with ACT Health with the goal of being able to host Members and Owners on what is traditionally the biggest day of Spring racing in Canberra.

Canberra Racing Club Chief Executive Officer Andrew Clark was buoyed by these recent changes in restrictions.

“It is fantastic news that racing will recommence at Thoroughbred Park on TAB Melbourne Cup Day for the first time since 6 August 2021. We are very hopeful that with today’s announcements, we will be able to host our loyal and passionate Members and Owners. They have obviously been starved of the thrill of live racing of late and we’re as excited as them to get them back through our gates.” Clark said.

TAB Melbourne Cup Day will feature a nine-race card. The Club will continue to update its Members and the wider racing community as soon further developments are finalised.
