It was Barbaric that took out the feature race but it was anything but barbaric at the Rodger Bartholomew Fashions on the Field stage with bountiful elegance and style. Entrants in the Female, Male and Millinery categories stunned onlookers with unique attires and Autumn colours. The Female winner walked away with a $2,000 Helloworld Travel voucher amongst a host of great prizes. The Male winner’s thrill won’t stop today with the prize including a 5% share in a beautiful gelding with the Joseph and Jones Racing team.
The winner of a free bet promotion had the chance to place a $2,500 bet on the John McGrath Auto Group Black Opal Stakes. Unfortunately, she selected Cellsabeel who ran an admirable third. She did however, walk away with a bottle of Seppelt Sparkling and a once in a life time thrill.
Those who wanted the party to continue flooded onto buses bound for the official after-party at The Duxton at O’Connor.
The electric atmosphere attesting to the John McGrath Auto Group Black Opal Stakes remaining the cornerstone of the Canberra social and fashion scene.
