Hops and Hooves Festival returns to celebrate the best of the region
Canberra’s fastest-growing race day returns to Thoroughbred Park on Saturday 27 September, with the Hops & Hooves Festival set to deliver live racing, Canberra’s biggest AFL Grand Final watch party, award-winning craft beverages, and some of the region’s most mouth-watering food trucks.
“This event has gone from strength to strength,” Robbie Ringland, Canberra Racing Club Head of Commercial and Communications said.
“The festival is a real celebration of the best in local and regional food, drinks, and entertainment.”
“It’s such a unique event. Think Oktoberfest, meets Black Opal Stakes Day, meets AFL Grand Final watch party.”
“There’s really something for everyone with plenty of different fun activities going on.”
Festival-goers will be spoilt for choice with a line-up of top-notch vendors, including:
• Hawker Beer – Reservoir, VIC
• Broulee Brewhouse – Broulee, NSW
• Mxtology – Mitchell, ACT
• Cypher Brewing Co – Gungahlin, ACT
• Six Strings Brewery – Central Coast, NSW
• Murrumbateman Winery – Murrumbateman, NSW
• Ambrosia Distillery – Fyshwick, ACT
• Bentspoke Brewing Co. – Mitchell, ACT
• Gravity Drinks – ACT
• Travla – VIC
• Jervis Bay Brewing Co. – Jervis Bay, ACT
• Hold Fast Distillery – Braidwood, NSW
• Ambush Brewing – ACT
• Choc Rum Australia – Holt, ACT
One of the most exciting additions to this year’s festival is Ambush Brewing, a new Canberra brewery who are new to the market.
“Ambush Brewing started as a bit of a pipe dream between two local mates with a passion for craft beer,” Cofounder Axel said.
“After years of hands-on work, we began production in Mitchell in early 2024, brewing on a mostly handmade system.”
“Our beers are bold, unfiltered, and never to be repeated, we love working with local and native ingredients to create something truly unique for the Canberra scene.”
Ambush Brewing has been making waves at beer festivals across the region, and the team is looking forward to their first Hops and Hooves Festival.
“This event feels like the perfect fit for us, great beer, great people, and a fun atmosphere.” “We’re here to grow our brand awareness, chat to punters about beer trends, and, most importantly, have a great time.”
“We love getting our ‘Hooves on ground’, so come over on the day for a yarn and a cold one.”
As well as great breweries, some of the regions best distilleries and wineries will showcase their creations at the Hops and Hooves Festival.
Off the back of the Viral Food Festival’s success earlier this year, the Festival will also welcome some of Canberra’s favourite food trucks.
With a full day of live racing action, a showcase of craft beer, wine, and spirits, and the AFL Grand Final broadcast on the big screen, the Hops and Hooves Festival is set to be the ultimate spring day out in the capital.
