Dale has an Edge

A late dive wasn’t enough for Sausedge to clinch the TAB Federal National Sprint Preview on Friday afternoon. The powerful burst was however, enough to ensure exemption from the ballot for the Listed Geocon National Sprint on John McGrath Auto Group Black Opal Stakes day. Matthew Dale’s talented mare was exceptional first up under a big weight. “We’re wrapped with her performance after missing the start and having to come wide, she’s pulled up very well.” Trainer Matthew Dale said.

Sausedge has won six of her 11 starts and is a genuine hope of delivering a black-type win for connections. “She’s well bred and compiling a good resume. If she can run top three in the National Sprint, it will significantly help her stud value.” Dale said.

“We’ve targeted this race since she won impressively Rosehill in November”

Luke Pepper’s Gold Touch who claimed victory in the Preview will not contest the feature in two weeks’ time and is off to the paddock for a well-earned spell. We’ll see the mare back in April for the Wagga Town Plate. The win was Gold Touch’s seventh from 22 starts.
The Listed Geocon National Sprint is worth $150,000, up $20,000 from 2019 and is one of four features across the two days of the Canberra Carnival.  The Geocon National Sprint will be Race 6 on John McGrath Auto Group Black Opal Stakes day, March 8th and will jump at 4:30pm.
