The Chatter about Nisbet’s TAB Federal chance

A horse that has long shown immense talent, John Nibset’s Mountain Chatter was outstanding last start when finishing 3rd, beaten just half a length, in the $150,000 Southern Country Championships Wild Card (1400m).

A son of Kermadec, Mountain Chatter will next line up in Wednesday’s TAB Federal (1300m) at Thoroughbred Park.

He has been knocking on the door of victory this preparation with four starts for four placings, and Nisbet thinks he can break through on Wednesday.

“I couldn’t be happier with the horse.” Nisbet said. “He’s going fantastic and I think he’s right in this race.”

“That was a very strong race at Goulburn and he ran out of his skin.”

“He has drawn well in barrier 3 and he’s able to race on or off speed so we’ll be able to just ride him to suit.”

“He’s been fantastic this preparation. I think we’ll take him to the midweeks next start and then he’s probably earned himself a spell.”

While racing in terrific form, Mountain Chatter will have to be at the top of his game, with a strong field assembled for the contest.

Top weight, Silent Impact will have his first start for Matthew Kelley as a recent addition to the stable from Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott.

While finishing outside of the placings in his last two starts, he does boast a 3rd placing at Randwick in a Benchmark 78 this year. That sort of form would have to put him right in the finish on Wednesday.

Frank Cleary’s My Last Hooray has got in at the minimum weight of 55kg and looks to be a horse with plenty of upside.

A three-year-old by highly regarded shuttle stallion Harry Angel, My Last Hooray has won three of his six career starts and has drawn the inside alley in Wednesday’s TAB Federal.

The TAB Federal is Race 5 on Wednesday’s program and is due to jump at 4:26pm.
