Canberra Racing Preview Friday 29 November 2019
Canberra Racing Friday 29 November 2019
The rail is in the true position and the track is in the good range. There are some very competitive races on the program and they should prove keen betting affairs.
Race 1 (1000m)
Only two have raced and the map is speculative. Sole Heir gets the rail and expects him to use it. The late market will be instructive. ENDORSE (1) was still new but made the placings at Randwick on debut and then was out-graded in the rich Golden Gift at Rosehill, won by a stablemate. The colt will be fitter and gets the visors first time. He can improve sharply at this level. SOLE HEIR (7) debuts with the blinkers applied owning a Hawkesbury trial win. No surprise of he leads from the rail and is sure to go well and be fancied. BRASH SAMMY (3) debuts with the blinkers on and impressed winning the recent Randwick trial by 5.8L. Draws low and looks ready to go. ABLEST ASCEND (2) debuts off a trial win at this track and also gets the blinkers. McDougal is booked and keep him on side.
Race 2 (1600m)
Appetizing looks the one to run them along. This is open on paper. DUCHESS OF WINDSOR (7) improved sharply winning the Maiden easily at Goulburn when better suited up to the mile. She has more to offer and a repeat wouldn’t surprise and the juicy each way quote. APPETIZING (3) may control the race from the rail. Has been beaten a lip the last two at this trip and comes back plenty in grade off the Kembla effort. Races at peak and expect him to take beating. MAIBEASY (6) was beaten a head at Bathurst in a CL2 following a big Maiden win, and then missed the start after and best to forgive. Winning rider Penza is reunited and a bounce wouldn’t surprise. WAIHEKE (1) will be better back to the mile and is sure to be a player drawn well with the handy 3kg claim.
Race 3 (2000m)
Bendethera gets the rail and looks the likely leader. This is a tough form assignment with a number of runners rising to a middle distance for the first time. A close market monitor a must. BENDETHERA (1) missed a nose 29 days ago at the mile in stronger grade and 4 winners have come out of that. He will run along and expect Ward to give him a measured ride over the longer trip. Is sure to be in it for a long way. INSTRUMENTS (2) was heavily-backed winning the Maiden comfortably and has a strong Victorian figure at this trip from the last preparation. Expect her to keep improving for the Jarvis yard. STREET CRED (5) did a big job to place over 1800m at Gundagai after missing the start by three lengths. He’s up to this and is one that will see it right out. ZARAFAH (3) peaks and the middle distance is likely to suit. Keeps Lever and the blinkers are applied first time. Keep safe.
Race 4 (1000m)
Not clear-cut who leads. Another good contest. BALLISTA (5) missed the hat-trick by a lip here 12 days ago behind Territorial and the shorter sprint today won’t bother. Need a good ride from Penza, but rates highly. GOLD TOUCH (3) surprised the market winning the CL3 on resumption and didn’t get it easy. No surprise if he went on. LADY’S GEM (4) resumes for the Sargent yard and has warmed up with a Randwick trial. He will race over further, but is one to keep safe. OUR FINVARRA (2) has ability and can show more third-up.
Race 5 (1300m)
It’s not clear-cut who leads. Hercegovka with the claimer up is a possibility. Very tricky and the market will be instructive. BRIGID OF KILDARE (1) hasn’t had the best of it since winning the CL2 at Nowra at 1400m. Has had a briefly freshen and Lever is a key booking. She will be hard to beat. THE SENATOR (3) resumes for Matt Dale and is promising. Will race over further, but no surprise if he’s presented ready to go and draws to advantage. FUNKY MUSIC (6) brings provincial form in stronger and just missed here in this grade earlier in the preparation. Gets the rail and McDougall for the apprentice, and expect improvement. ROMEO VELLA (4) peaks following the Gundagai placing and will use the low gate. Finds easier and he can be right in the finish.
Race 6 (1400m)
Litchfield gets the rail and is the likely leader. Another very competitive race. GIOCOSO (10) missed a lip here and the one after at Wagga, and then got too far back as favourite at the Sapphire Coast. Coming back to this trip will suit after a month away, and she gets her chance given a good Cahill ride. LITCHFIELD (2) improved again placing here behind Diamond Class, and then was on-speed up in trip at Canterbury and folded up in a stronger Maiden. He’s much better suited today. Lever is a key booking and will use the rail. OVERFLOWING (3) improved again beaten less than a length here behind Latina Beauty. Draws out, but keeps Penza and will go well again. LADY KIRKHAM (5) resumes and has trialled well in town. Brings good figures and is likely to be more forward this time around. AMBER'S JOY (6) on debut and I LOVE LUKA (12) resuming, represent leading metropolitan yards and elevate if the money comes for one or both.
Race 7 (1200m)
Howra may run them along. HOWRA (5) resumes for Team Snowden owning two good trial efforts and has just missed three times in Sydney Maidens. She will race handy and Lever is a positive booking. Gets the winkers first time and expect her to take beating. MANILA THRILLER (13) resumed in good order here 12 days ago beaten 1.3L and the Dryden-trained filly has more to give. The outside gate is the dampener and will prove a good challenge for the in-form McDougall. STOKED (10) wasn’t beaten far on debut and is in good hands. She can keep improving and go close.
Race 8 (1300m) Federal
Irish Lucy can lead from the rail and they will run along. BALONNE (12) seeks the hat-trick and the win here 24 days ago was impressive. Draws to advantage and can keep things rolling sitting down in the weights at an each way quote. UP TRUMPZ (4) came off a number of strong city efforts to just miss in the Snake Gully Cup at Gundagai. He should be right in it pushing forward and keeping Cahill. LEVEE BANK (3) resumed in the same race and didn’t get into after drifting back. She’s up to this at best and has a hope if the 3kg claimer can weave a way through. IRISH LUCY (7) led and won here resuming and then was plain in the Wagga Open and that was out of character. He can run them along from the rail and a bounce wouldn’t surprise. MAN OF PEACE (1) should be ready to show his best second-up off a long break and keep a very close eye on the market with him and the stablemate DARK CONFIDANT (8).\
Race 9 (1400m)
Milamoo looks the likely leader from Inceptive. INCEPTIVE (6) did a few things wrong resuming in a strong form Maiden and then led and was much too good 24 days ago. Will have taken further improvement and learning and no surprise if she can take the next step drawn to advantage with Lever on first time. READY'S GIRL (3) races handy and won the Kembla Maiden on resumption as equal favourite. She’s sure to have come on and should go close. SATIRICAL KNIGHT (1) resumes off a Gosford maiden win and has had two trial warmers. Rated highly just missing at his only run at this track and expect him to be ready to go for the Sydney yard. THE DREAM GIVER (4) is the second Matt Dale runner and has plenty of upside.
