It’s been warm in the Capital and the track will presents as a Good 4. The rail is out 7m the entire course. Very competitive fields.
Race 1 (1200m)
Scarleo will race handy and Elder Price is likely to run along on debut. PIPING ROLLER (2) was okay on debut and long odds and then improved sharply beaten a lip at Kembla Grange impressing. The 1200m is perfect now and can win drawn low with Lever sticking. This season, Lever is striking at 50% this track. SCARLEO found Joy And Mirth too good here on debut, but it was a solid effort and he can make further improvement for a leading local yard. ELDER PRICE (3) debuts for Waterhouse-Bolt owning a solid Randwick trial. Expect him to push forward and have good ability. CHABROL (1) had some shared-pressure on speed here at the last meeting and did a good job to just miss. He’s a hope again, drawn to advantage.
Race 2 (1300m)
First Responder can cross over and lead. FIRST RESPONDER (3) has missed a whisker the last two heavily-backed and they read well. He will have no trouble finding the speed and back 100m will be no disadvantage. SHADY DIAMOND (2) can stalk from the low gate and go on the nose defeat here two back. Is up 200m and just has to run it out to be a leading chance. LITCHFIELD (1) gets back, but is going well enough to fill a minor slot. Ditto OFF TO MOE'S (10), but it looks a long tail.
Race 3 (1000m)
Corcra may lead from Glock. CORCRA (3) was back to his best beaten a nose at Bathurst form the speed heavily-supported. He should have no trouble scooting over to the speed and makes strong appeal on the 7-day return. DENMAN'S LIGHT (4) debuts for another Sydney yard and brings a string of sharp trials. He’s advantaged by the low draw and the form jockey is booked. BRUSSELS (2) was spelled off the nose defeat at Albury and then raced a bit keen on the speed when expected to win at Moruya. He will be better for that and should be right in it using the rail.
KOOTALOO (10) is a Baker stablemate to the top selection and has also trialled well for her debut. Draws out, but keep her very safe.
Race 4 (2000m)
Think Music may run them along. SEPULCHRE (5) just missed here behind Dambulla before franking that with a 3L win as favourite at Wagga. She’s seasoned and very honest and is capable of a repeat. THINK MUSIC (6) has made good improvement the last two at the mile and expect the former Victorian to handle the middle distance. CHAIRMAN'S CHOICE (1) will be better for the initial run for the new yard coming off a comfortable win at Warracknabeal. LARMOUR (3) is improving and also deserves consideration.
Race 5 (1000m)
Miss Antares can lead from the low draw with Calescent sitting handy. CALESCENT (7) was heavily-backed winning a Wagga Open 2 four back on debut and showed enough after that to suggest this is winnable on resumption. She’s fast and should be further improved. ROZBURG (2) hasn’t won for a while, but has been knocking on the door and gets another chance. DALMATINKA (4) impressed winning here on debut and then got too far back at Queanbeyan. Cahill is a key jockey switch and she gets the chance to bounce. MISS ANTARES (3) resumes from the rail and is a first-up winner.
Race 6 (1600m)
Is That So and Mahjong Rose will come over and race handy. IS THAT SO (3) missed a lip at Goulburn and then impressed winning the Maiden at Wyong this trip. She will make the speed okay and is clearly the one to beat again. PRINCE CAMELOT (5) was in need of the run resuming at Kembla in a but stronger and will be much better out to the mile. May need one more, but rates too well to risk.
TRUST THE PROCESS (9) did enough at the mile at his second race-run to suggest he can make the finish with extra improvement. NICOYA (12) has been much better the last two and she could surprise.
Race 7 (1000m)
Another competitive race. CACCINI (6) was back to his best beaten 1.3L 34 days ago in stronger at Randwick and has won a trial here since. He needs a good ride from the wide gate but rates the staring point. HARD CORE (9) missed a lip here the latest and will be better for it. Draws to advantage and should go close. REVOLVER (10) also gets a tricky gate, but would take beating with a repeat of the first-up run. Prepared to forgive the Goulburn run after. ROMEO VELLA (11) raced favourite resuming and didn't have the best of it. Quick improvement is on the cards.
Race 8 (1600m)
Monte Majura gets the opportunity to lead. Doubt there’s much between the better ones. The Dryden yard holds the key. SWEET KNUCKLE (8) should get an ideal run in transit and posted his fourth win three weeks ago at Moruya back to the mile. He won here three back and can go on with it with McDougall back in the saddle. Stablemate WAIHEKE (6) missed a lip three times before finding Kembla a touch too tough. Gets the senior rider back on and expect him to go close. MONTE MAJURA (11) had no luck at all second-up and expect him to enjoy the mile. He should run along and a win wouldn’t surprise. LOLITA GOLD (10) was plain in town resuming, but is up to this at best and can improve quickly. The third Dryden galloper GUNGA DIN (9) also deserves consideration.
Race 9 (1300m)
A few are capable of leading and expect the field to run along. Tricky. FRANCISCO PIZARO (7) had excuses placing first up as favourite and has plenty up the sleeve. The gate improves with the scratchings and he will take beating. MOSS THE BOSS (1) missed a nose here and then was slow off and then just missed the placings in town in stronger. The 4kg claimer will have him on speed and he’s a chance despite the dip in trip. HEAVEN ON EARTH (8) had no luck late here the latest and hit the line well. She deserves the win and will get every chance from the rail and with the 3kg claim. VERDI (11) will push forward and has more to offer off the first up placing. Has trialled well in town in preparation for this.
