The Canberra Racing Club is pleased to announced it has renewed its long-standing partnership with Lion for the next 5 years. The agreement will see some of the strongest beer brands such as Iron Jack, Super Dry and Furphy in Australia stocked in the fridges at Thoroughbred Park.

Canberra Racing Club Chief Operating Officer Amy Squires said “We are thrilled to provide our patrons with trusted brands and high-quality products”.

Lion Representative Lynton MacPherson said “Lion and the Canberra Racing Club have forged a long and successful history together and we’re very pleased that this will continue. Thoroughbred Park is one of Canberra’s strongest venues and we are pleased to provide their customers with Australia’s strongest beer brands.”

The agreement includes naming rights to the now ‘Iron Jack Canberra Guineas’, a $150,000 Listed race run on TAB Canberra Cup Day. Lion are long-time supporters of the Canberra Guineas and of racing nationally.

The Club has also entered into agreements with local beer brands BentSpoke Brewing Co. and Capital Brewing Co. which will see locally brewed beers stocked at Thoroughbred Park for the first time.

“There is a strong demand amongst our membership and patron base to get behind both of these local brands who have quickly stamped themselves as major players in a highly competitive market.”  Canberra Racing Club COO Amy Squires said. “Stocking both Capital and BentSpoke diversifies our offering and will give our customers a wider-variety of choice.”

BentSpoke Founder and Head Brewer Richard Watkins said “Thoroughbred Park has been a long-term partner of the Canberra Community and BentSpoke Brewing Co. is excited that a close neighbor is supporting local Independent Canberra beer.”

Capital Brewing Co.’s Liam Thomson shared the sentiment stating “We at Capital Brewing Co. are excited to offer our products and welcome the partnership with the Canberra Racing Club.”

“We are stoked to have our products offered to the local racing community as well as interstate visitors to Thoroughbred Park. We hope that our products add value to the Canberra race day experience.

BentSpoke and Capital products will fill the fridges at Thoroughbred Park from the 1st of January 2021.
