Peter V’Landys AM to Speak at Black Opal Stakes Luncheon

In a major coup, the Canberra Racing Club and Carbine Club of the ACT proudly announces the identity of the guest speaker of the Carbine Club Luncheon as Peter V’Landys AM.  Mr V’Landys AM holds key positions in two prominent organisations, the CEO of Racing NSW and Chairman of the Australian Rugby League Commission, and is credited with the invention of the richest race on turf, the Everest. He is sure to offer a unique insight into the world of sport behind the scenes.

The luncheon to be held on Friday, 6th of March, will also feature a star-studded racing panel with Sky Racing’s Glenn Munsie hosting veteran Trainers Barbara Joseph and Joe Cleary, Racing & Sports’ form analyst Simon Dinopoulos and Michael Heath. The panel will offer insights and tips on the feature races across both days of the Canberra Carnival including the John McGrath Auto Group Black Opal Stakes and the TAB Canberra Cup. The event to be held at the National Press Club of Australia represents great value for any lover of racing, sport or fine dining at just $140 per ticket.

The Carbine Club Luncheon is one of many social events in the lead up to the inaugural Canberra Carnival. The Black Opal Stakes Cocktail Party, frequented by industry elite and racing lovers alike, is the first of these events and will be held at Mercedses-Benz in Fyshwick on Thursday, 27th of February.
