Barrier Trials

Up to two barrier trials are conducted after every race meeting in Spring, Summer and Autumn except on Melbourne Cup Day, Black Opal Stakes Day & Canberra Cup Day say, in winter one barrier trial is conducted after each race meeting. Nominations are made through the RISA Trainer Service Centre and close at 1pm on acceptance day of the race meeting.

All horses must be on course with identification papers and available for inspection by the start time of the second last race. Horses must have all race gear in place as per the stable return prior to entering the mounting yard including the correct stirrup irons on the saddle.

For trials preference is given to horses requiring a barrier certificate or stewards clearance, the Club may grant exemptions. The Club reserves the right to run additional trials or cancel trials on race days depending on circumstances.
