Things spice up for Pepper Racing

Canberra’s Luke Pepper stable is in a good space and has been enjoying plenty of recent success.

SHEZACRAFTSMAN has been leading the charge scoring at both runs for the yard. She is one of a number of former Kiwi’s with Pepper who were brought as future broodmares by Gold Class Racing.

“She came to us with pretty moderate form in New Zealand over a mile and further but has blossomed in our system,” Pepper said.

“She’s regained her zest for racing.”

Shezacraftsman recorded a big FU win on the Canberra Acton synthetic track and then took that form to Goulburn where she just got up after a good ride by Kayla Nisbet.

Pepper says he’s in no rush with the mare and will slowly step her up in trip.

“She’s bred for further and will get better as the distances ride.

“Her next race is likley to be a BM 55 over 1400m at Nowra in a fortnight.

Pepper will present fresh another former Kiwi for the same connections at Canberra tomorrow (Friday).

LOUISIANA BELLE is a 3yo filly who’s been racing over further on wet tracks.

“She goes to the races in good order and has pleased the stable. She’s a work in progress and her run tomorrow will give us a good idea where she is at.”

Pepper also lines up former Queenslander CHARCUTERIE who was brought as a tried horse.

“He placed three times up there last time in, and then had a year off the scene before coming to Canberra. He’s a bold galloper who need the FU run and we will see the best of him over 1400m and further.”

Pepper expects an improved run from VICEROY at Randwick on Saturday. He didn’t have much luck last start at Rosehill and if he pleases he will go on to the Ramornie at Grafton.

The stable has representation at the Sapphire Coast on Sunday and Pepper said two of his better gallopers, MARQUEE and SHE ZAR, will resume in good order.
