Single Gaze starts in the Underwood this Sunday
Canberra mare Single Gaze will continue her Caulfield Cup and Melbourne Cup preparation in the Group 1 Underwood Stakes (1800m) at Caulfield on Sunday.
To date Single Gaze has amassed over $1.5 million in prize money over her 22 start career headlined by her 2016 Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes win.
“I am really happy with her, and she is as strong as ever” Olive said.
Single Gaze rounded out a Brisbane campaign over the winter finishing runner-up to Chocante in the Group 2 Brisbane Cup (2200m) on June 10 at Doomben.
That followed her Group 2 PJ O’Shea Stakes (2200m) success at the same track and distance just a week earlier.
Kathy O’Hara has ridden the mare in 18 of her career runs including her 13 latest starts. Single Gaze has drawn Barrier 4 in the Underwood. Olive has also stated that the Melbourne Cup may be an option should the mare show that she is looking for more distance.
The last Canberra starter in the Melbourne Cup was 14 years ago when Ain’t Seen Nothin’ trained by Barbara Joseph ran 13th in a field of 21.
