Single Gaze jumps out at Caulfield

Star Canberra mare Single Gaze has jumped out on the Caulfield course proper in preparation for her Melbourne spring campaign.

Race-rider Kathy O’Hara flew from Sydney to partner the mare who arrived in Melbourne on Friday under the care of part-owner Martin Hay and trainer Nick Olive’s travelling foreman Billy Owen.

Importantly, O’Hara reported that Single Gaze handled the Melbourne way of going although not pressured.

She said she leaned well into the corner and seemed natural on that leg.

All going to plan Single Gaze will race first-up in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on 2 September with the $3.1 million Group 1 Caulfield Cup 21 October her ultimate target.
