The rail is out 6m the 1000m-350m and 3m the remainder.
The track was rated a Good 4 late in the week with a few showers possible on Friday and Saturday.
Large competitive fields abound including in the $40,000 TAB Federal.
Race 1: Canberra Toyota Maiden (1000m)
Not clear-cut the speed but Luminescent likes to run along and may lead from the handy gate. LUMINESCENT (3) showed a bit in the first campaign and resumes off trial wins at Warwick Farm and Hawkesbury. Expect her to be sharply-improved on race day and take beating from the advantageous draw. LOVE ME BROKE (1) debuts and his trials suggest he has plenty of ability. Is bred to be fast and is in good hands.
SCARY SPICE (11) made good improvement placing at Wagga on resumption. Draws out like the above but has to be considered. RIGHT ANGLES (2) debuts for Matt Dale from a low draw with ACT premiership leader Billy Owen riding. Didn’t show much at a recent trial but respect of the market moves his way.
Race 2: Synergy Class 1 (1000m)
Miss Antares can lead from Dreams Of Platinum, Feel The Knight and I’m A Jewel. MISS ANTARES (2) won a Warwick Farm trial by a space and then won the Maiden comfortably at Wyong as the market expected. Gets the form hoop and the chance to repeat. FEEL THE KNIGHT (1) won a trial and then delivered easily on debut at Wagga as favourite. That stacks right up and has the speed to clear the tricky gate. LUXURIAL (6) resumes off a strong effort at this venue and the Tash Burleigh stable is flying. She’s up to this and expect her to be presented more forward this time around. STAR CASH (7) surprised winning the Goulburn Maiden clearly. Is right in it if she can hold that. THE UNKNOWN FACTOR (4) has the ability but has disappointed the last two.
Race 3: Holcim Maiden (1300m)
Vermont, Major Time and Kyushu will all be prominent from the jump. VERMONT (3) won two trials for Waterhouse-Bott but looked in need of it at Wyong on debut. He’s very-well bred and has been saved for this. Expect sharp improvement. MAJOR TIME (2) will use the rail and deserves the win. Just missed here the latest toughing it right out and keeps improving. KYUSHU (4) raced handy placing here on debut and has had two trial warmers at Hawkesbury. The low gate advantages and Billy Owen is a key booking. Has the ability and is sure to be ready. BRUNELA (6) was much better placing here 13 days ago despite a slow off. Hit the line well and can be right in the finish if McDougall can get her moving along from the handy gate.
Race 4: Rolfe Property Services Class 1 & Maiden (2000m)
Pride Of Kalaru is a likely pacemaker. GUNGA DIN (3) impressed winning the Maiden at Goulburn at his third run up to the mile. Needs a good ride from McDougal but the middle distance looks right up his alley. Looks capable of repeating. LORD DESANIMAUX (8) was just nudged out by the above in that race following the FU Kembla placing. Still a Maiden but looks suited. PRIDE OF KALARU (9) has had three runs back for the local yard and expect him to be cherry ripe for the longer trip. He uses the low gate and the claim is handy. RED MY MIND (2) is a Kiwi with Matt Dale and should be ready to show something third-up. The market closer to post-time will tell with him. CASS 'N' BLACK (1) impressed last start at Wagga but hasn’t won for a long time.
Race 5: Canberra Outlet BM 65 (1000m)
Plenty capable of leading and they will speed along. INDICATORS ON (7) resumes and the stable knows how to win here. Brings strong heavily-backed form and owns a sharp Hawkesbury trial. Expected to come back further improved and Cahill is a key booking. ROMEO VELLA (9) won his third race at Albury improving again. Has won this course and trip and is feared despite the weight rise. MYSTIC MOON (3) resumed for the Pepper yard and is a Queenslander right up to this at best. The claimer can lead or stalk from the rail and expect a bold return. LE DEJEUNER (10) has the speed to clear the tricky gate and no knock on his form. Hasn’t won for a long while but has to be considered.
Race 6: TAB Federal (1400m)
No designated leader and Arithmetic may do the job and the filly who can’t be ruled out. An open contest. MONTE MAJURA (6) won the Maiden here the latest and did it well. Four winners have come out of that and his figure stacks right up. Can stalk the speed from the low gate and Ward goes on. WHISKY'N'DIAMONDS (12) will use the rail and should be ready to fire third-up for Matt Dale. Gets another rider switch and McDougall should suit the gelding. Guymer gets off Monte to partner with ZEDFORCE (9) who presents third-up off two placings at this venue. Needs a good ride but is sure to go close. HEAVEN ON EARTH (5) won the CL1 here and then didn’t have the best of it at Rosehill. This is easier and a bounce wouldn’t surprise. BLACK WAND has been accepted at three meetings and treating him as a scratching. Elevate if he starts here.
Race 7: Capital Air BM 65 (1600m)
A lack of early pace and hard to pick the leader. Matt Dale plays a strong hand. DREAM BUILDER (7) looked in need of it resuming at Warwick Farm and then was beaten 1.7L at Randwick in stronger this trip. Ran a peak in that and should get every chance drawn low. Stablemate BELFAST BELLA (11) just missed in the same race at Randwick also running a career peak. She will also be fitter and should go close. BELLA DELUXE (14) missed a lip 2U and has more up the sleeve. The mile suits and she should go close with a good ride. TRANSACT (7) is down from Sydney and was wide FU and in need of it. Gets the blinkers again and sharp improvement wouldn’t surprise.
BEST: Race 7 Dream Builder
AT ODDS: Race 6 Monte Majura
