Saddle up for the Tony Campbell Cup!

Spring racing is heating up at Thoroughbred Park and one of the best days on the calendar is the TAB Federal Tony Campbell Memorial Cup and Students Race Day on Friday 5 October.  

The heavily competitive Rodger Bartholomew Fashions on the field competition will include plenty of prizes in the Mens and Ladies categories.  Registrations to enter the event are at the main stage on the day, strictly between 12:30pm and 2pm with the first heats underway at 3pm.  

The University Residence Mascot race will be an added spectacle this year.  With University students from all Canberra residences on campus competing for a cash pool, and the winner will receive $1000 to the residence social club and $1000 to their chosen charity.  Mascots from all over Canberra are taking part in a 100m sprint to the finish.

Live DJs on course and for those who love a bit of Aussie tradition, this years $200,000 Melbourne Cup trophy will be on course, as part of the worldwide tour before the big race that stops the nation.  You can hold the trophy and have your photo taken with the iconic Cup.

Free buses will head on a loop from Pantawora Street at the University of Canberra, and from Bus Stop 4529 Rimmer Street ANU from noon to 2pm directly to the racecourse.  

Students can also be a part of the “Buy me a Pony” sweepstakes to win a $100 bet on a horse running on the day in the TAB Federal Tony Campbell Memorial Cup, see your residence manager for more details.  

Plenty of drink specials and best of all admission through the gates is free for everyone.  This is an 18+ event and students are reminded to bring the appropriate identifications to enter.
