Richard Bensley Returns To The Saddle Friday

Popular jockey Richard Bensley returns to the saddle on Friday having recovered from a Canberra race-fall that left him with 10 broken ribs and a fractured pelvis.

Bensley spent six weeks in hospital and has been riding work for a month building strength and fitness.

He is booked for 3 horses at the Canberra meeting.

In Race 1 Bensley links with trainer Gratz Vella aboard Paris Carver, and sticks with the stable in Race 2 aboard the speedy McLennan.

He then gets a breather and returns in the final event aboard Oakwood Lady for Scott Singleton.

Before the fall Bensley had been enjoying his best ever period.

His achievements included winning the Wagga Country Championchips qualifier, the Albury Guineas, and then the Listed Scone Guineas, on Loved Up for Brett Cavanough.

And the Scone outing was capped when he picked up the ride on Artlee and took out the Listed Luskin Star Stakes.
