Canberra Racing This Saturday — A Good Day Out

“A Good Day Out” is the theme for this Saturday’s Canberra race meeting — the only Saturday meeting held by the Canberra Racing Club.

The race day coincides with the Australian Turf Club’s Golden Slipper Day, where Black Opal Stakes winner Trapeze Artist will contend for Slipper honours.

Should he win, it will be the first time a horse has won the Black Opal-Slipper double since Catbird in 1999 — and will add further prestige to the Canberra Group 3 feature.

Saturday’s meeting is the 5th Marymead charity race day.

It’s held to boost the charity’s fundraising, and the six race program will be complimented by the fashions on the field competition in the ladies and men’s category, with prizes including a $1000 jewellery piece from Vangeli’s jewellers, Napoleon Perdis makeup and Review gift cards.

Gates open at midday with the first race at 12.30pm. The race day is free.
