Single Gaze 'Awesome' In Canberra Trial
A decision will be made shortly on the autumn programme for Group 1 winning Canberra mare Single Gaze.
Single Gaze confirmed she was back in career-best order with a dominant win in Friday’s Open trial at Thoroughbred Park.
Allowed to settle early, Single Gaze worked around them and cruised to the line untouched.
Trainer Nick Olive says Single Gaze has never trialled better; a sentiment echoed by jockey Kathy O’Hara who came from Sydney to ride.
O’Hara described the trial as “awesome” and could not believe how much the mare has improved.
O’Hara and Olive combined to take out the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes in March with Single Gaze, before the mare fell in the Group 1 Australian Oaks.
Remarkably, Single Gaze came out of the incident relatively unscathed, but O’Hara was badly injured and way from racing for three months.
Olive says Single Gaze may trial again before she kicks off her campaign either in Sydney or Melbourne — with the $3m Doncaster Mile at Randwick a likely target.
