Matt Dale Ponders Fell Swoop’s Next Assignment

Leading Canberra trainer Matt Dale will decide later in the week when his stable star Fell Swoop next faces the starter.

Fell Swoop ran third in a strong Schillaci Stakes (1100 metres) at Caulfield on Saturday, after being wide the journey.

Dale says the Group 1 Manikato Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on Saturday week, or the Group 2 Linlithgow Stakes (1200m) the following week are likely next options if all goes to plan.

The Darley Classic (1200m) at Flemington has been earmarked as the gelding’s final Spring run.

Dale was happy with the Schillaci performance and jockey Hugh Bowman commented after the race that Fell Swoop was in for a “nice” spring.

Meanwhile, Dale lines up former South Australian mare Rocket Commander in tomorrow’s (Wednesday) Group 3 Ladies Day Vase (1600m) at Caulfield.

Rocket Commander has won her only start fourth-up and two runs back won the Penny Edition Stakes in Adelaide before transferring to the Dale yard.
