Schweppes Race Day

The Canberra Racing Club will this Friday conduct the annual Schweppes Race Day which is the last meeting of the financial year for the Club.  Schweppes representatives will host their race day function in the Rich Reward Room.

There are two more race meetings remaining in the Premiership season and currently Brendan Ward is a clear leader on 21 wins in the jockeys premiership and Matt Dale with a strong lead in the trainers’ premiership on 23 wins ahead of Keith Dryden’s 16.

Dale has had 80 starters for an impressive strike rate of 28.8% and to win would be his first premiership win since becoming a trainer at Canberra.

A bet on every one of Dale’s runners would have produced a 12.4% profit-on-turnover.

Both Dale and Dryden have strong teams in on Friday including the Keith Dryden trained Halfpenny Gate who is being aimed at an upcoming highway Handicap in Sydney following his win in a similar race in January.

This Saturday at Randwick, Canberra trainers have 5 good chances in the Highway Handicap which will run at 12:35pm.
