Melbourne Spring For Almost Court

Canberra Cup winner ALMOST COURT is back in work with a Melbourne spring campaign planned.

Co-trainer Paul Jones, says Almost Court is likely to target the Dato’ Tan Chin Nam Stakes first-up over a mile at Moonee Valley.

Jones says the former New Zealand gelding has been nominated for some of the better spring races and the Dato’ will provide them with an indication of how he shapes up.

“He’s been back in work for five weeks and is in good order,” Jones said.

“He suited on tracks that favour front runners and our focus will be on races at Moonee Valley and Caulfield in particular.”

Building on the success with Almost Court, Jones, in partnership with his mother, Barbara Joseph, have taken over the training of another Kiwi, DISTURBANCE.

The gelding has won four from 27 from 1400m- 1800m and Jones says he’s a kind, nice moving horse, who has settled in well and is forward in his work.

The Joseph-Jones partnership is enjoying its best ever season. 48 winners have come out of the stable and there’s been a considerable prize-money lift.

“If we can get it up to 52 it equates at a winner a week and that’s pleasing for a stable of our size.”
