Dryden-Collings Maintain Lead In Trainer Premiership

The Keith Dryden–Scott Collings partnership go into the new calendar year atop the ACT Trainer Premiership for the 2016-17 season.

Dryden-Collings have delivered 11 winners in the Capital, two ahead of Nick Olive (9) and last year's Premiership winner Matt Dale (6)

All three yards were in the winners circle at last Thursday’s Christmas meeting at Thoroughbred Park, with Flash In The Dark (Dryden-Collings), Surprise Party (Dale) and Rhomlo (Olive).

Gratz Vella took training honours on the day taking out the first two races on the program with Keep ‘Em Guessin’ and Orange Time. Vella also recorded two seconds with American Time and Double Good.

All three stables at the head of the premiership are striking at more than 20% + with Dale (27%) the best of them and having considerably fewer runners.

Leading jockeys Mathew Cahill (11) and Brendan Ward (10) have drawn clear on the ACT 2016-17 Jockey Premiership.

Promising apprentice Rachel Hunt rode two winners on Thursday’s program and now shares the lead on the ACT 2016-17 Apprentice Jockey Premiership with Jason Devrimol with 6 apiece.

This places them equal third on the Jockey Premiership.

The Olive and Dryden-Collings yards are well represented in nominations for Friday’s meeting in the Capital — the Sponsors Race Day.
