Clipper sets sail for Caulfield
Clipper from the Matt Dale yard will fly the Canberra flag at Saturday’s meeting at Caulfield.
The recent dual Highway Handicap winner will race in the Super Vobis Three-Years-Old Fillies Handicap (1100m) of $100,000.
Clipper has won four of her six starts and Dale says she deserves her chance in Melbourne.
Dale says Saturday’s race has been on the radar since the latest Highway success and the three weeks between runs is perfect for the Beneteau filly.
He says she’s been working the left handed way of racing.
Clipper does everything right in her races and keeps improving and her comparative ratings suggest she’ll take a stack of beating at Caulfield despite the class rise.
Dale has booked the 1.5kg apprentice Ben Thompson to take the ride and isn’t concerned that the track is likely to be firmer than those she’s been ploughing through in Sydney.
Dale’s stable star Fell Swoop will be back in work in Canberra this week with the $10 million The Everest (1200m) at Randwick in October his target third-up.
