The unique electric atmosphere that only the Canberra's biggest race day can produce is back again with a live band, on-course entertainment and a big crowd promised.  

The Group 3 John McGrath Auto Group Black Opal Stakes is day one of the Canberra Racing Carnival. The inaugural running of the Canberra Racing Carnival will include the prestigious Black Opal Stakes Race Day on Sunday followed by the newly introduced, family-focused Canberra Cup Race Day on Monday.

The first Black Opal Stakes in 1973 was won by Rich Reward. The race meeting is one of the more important Autumn race days on the calendar for 2yo's. The Black Opal Stakes program includes; the $250,000 John McGrath Auto Group Black Opal Stakes (Group 3),  $130,000 Geocon National Sprint (Listed) and the Affinity Constructions $80,000 Open Sprint.

Your GA ticket or members badge entitles you to free travel on Canberra Metro Operations on the day. This includes Light Rail and buses. A Light Rail station is position adjacent to Thoroughbred Park meaning coming and going has never been easier. .

Buses will be leaving the Official After-Party Venue, The Duxton at O'Connor every half an hour from 5pm.

All members are eligible to receive a complimentary general admission ticket and members day pass with forms with forms required to be competed and returned to Thoroughbred Park administration by Friday January 31st 2020.

$50 (does not include the  $25 Admission fee)
