Thoroughbred Park, home of the Canberra Racing Club, races 25 times per year and includes TAB Melbourne Cup Day and the John McGrath Auto Group Canberra Black Opal Stakes/TAB Canberra Cup days.


Membership to the Club entitles you to a variety of facilities and benefits and offers great savings. You may join as a member or renew your membership online. Membership is offered on an annual or 3 year option. The 3 year option offers 3 years membership for the price of 2.

Non-Feature Race Days - Members may purchase day tickets to the members’ stand for their guests at a cost of $10 on non-feature days (Maximum of 4 tickets). Non-members may purchase a day ticket for $15 per person.

Feature Days - Members may purchase 2 members stand tickets for guests for $50 each.  This does not include admission into the course. Please contact the office during business hours to obtain costs for the relevant feature days i.e.  Melbourne Cup Day and Black Opal Stakes/Canberra Cup.

*New members joining two months prior to a feature race meeting are eligible to purchase up to 2 guest passes. New Members joining after the two month cut off date of a feature race meeting are not eligible to purchase additional guest ticketing to the members' area. Dress Regulations

Please note that dress regulations for admittance to the members reserve and Queen Elizabeth Stand are as follows: Badge and ticket holders are expected to maintain a suitable dress standard in keeping with the dignity of the stand. Gentlemen’s standard is neat casual dress, with collared shirt unless worn under a sports coat and appropriate footwear. Thongs, shorts, running shoes and singlets are unacceptable (dress jeans allowed). Women’s standard is neat and casual.

NOTE : Windcheaters, parkas, tracksuit tops, thongs, sneakers or running shoes are not considered a suitable standard. Notwithstanding the above, the Club reserves the right to exercise discretion regarding dress.

Free Members' car park

This facility, situated at the northern end of the grounds and is available to all members. Membership cards provide access to this car park.

Black Opal Room - Level 2

The Black Opal Room is a fully catered venue which offers lunch from a seasonal menu, full bar and TAB facilities.  On non-feature race days Members may reserve tables in the Black Opal Room for a booking fee of $30.  Guest Passes can be purchased from the Race Day Office.  For further information regarding bookings, please contact the office during business hours on (02) 6204 0000

Winning Post Bar - Ground level

The Winning Post Bar provides light refreshments, TAB, and full bar facilities. This bar is open to the public for standard race meetings however is reserved for members and member's reserve ticket holders on Black Opal Stakes/Canberra Cup Day and Melbourne Cup Day.

Members Facilities

Members have full use of the Queen Elizabeth Grandstand at all times provided they meet the required dress standard. The Queen Elizabeth Grandstand contains the Winning Post Bar, Thoroughbred Club, Black Opal Room and the members' grandstand seating.


Senior Membership

People 60 years and over can join the Club as a Senior Member.

  • Upon taking the option of a 3 year membership, no member is entitled to a refund under any circumstances for the duration of the 3 year membership.
  • Member's Guest cards may only be purchased at the time and can not be purchased mid-term.
  • Identification is required for proof of age.
  • Identification must be shown. 
  • $75 per year or $180 for 3 years.

Young Membership

People aged 18 to 29 years can join the Club as a Young Member.

  • The 3 year option is unavailable to Young Members.
  • Appropriate identification is required for proof of age.
$75.00 annually

Full Membership

30 to 59 year olds can join the Club as a Full Member.

  • Upon taking the option of a 3 year membership, no member is entitled to a refund under any circumstances for the duration of the 3 year membership.
  • Member's Guest cards may only be purchased at the time the membership option is taken and can not be purchased mid-term. 
  • A Full member who turns 60 years of age mid-way through the three year period is based on the Full Membership and Member's Guest fee and no monies will be reimbursed.
  • Voting rights and the purchase of members’ tickets are not applicable for the Member Guest card holder. 
  • Member's Guest cards are not sold separately and may only be purchased with a Full/Senior membership.
