Norm Gardner finds his form
Canberra Trainer Norm Gardner Says Metralla Pick Of 3yo’s
The Norm Gardner stable has struck form with a win (Upper House) and three placings (Caccini, Ultraviolet and Trying) from its last four runners — all at Wagga.
Gardner says his three year olds — Upper House, Ultraviolet, and Caccini— have always shown ability, but haven’t always enjoyed the best of fortune. Upper House broke through for a deserved win at Wagga and Ultraviolet was beaten by the barrier.
Gardner says Trying has been rejuvenated since the wind operation and says all these gallopers have good upside. Gardner says at this stage Metralla is the pick of his 3yo team and she lines up at Canberra on Sunday in the CL1 J R Global Logistics Handicap over 1200m.
“Metralla won well first-up at Canberra and then was unlucky in the Highway, missing the start and rounding them up. I believe she has a great future.”
Gardner won a number of Highways, and says the Canberra Racing Club’s decision to introduce the $50,000 Federal at every local meeting as a substitute, is a “great initiative” that will boost racing in the capital.
