Warwick Farm onslaught to Canberra contingent

Guy Walter has cemented a position as one of the top trainers of Australia, with a regular spot in the top ten trainers in the Sydney premiership. Since 1990 he has won over $38m in prize money and only a handful of rivals have produced more than 27 Group 1 victories and over 100 stakes wins.

Guy will bring a calvary of 15 of his 50 horses currently in work to Canberra for the Holiday Race Day on Friday 8 January to take on the locals and to extend his points on the Canberra Premiership board.

Norm Gardner On Track For Best Ever Season

Canberra Trainer Norm Gardner only has a small race-team, but his 2016-17 season strike rate of 28% is up with the best.

Since 1 August, Gardner has started gallopers in 32 races for nine wins — equally his winning record for the entire previous season.

Gardner has 12 boxes and 12 yards which is the maximum he has in work at any one time.

Le Cavalier and Law Of The Land lead Gardner’s win tally with two apiece, but the stable’s highest stakes earner has been Bootlegging off his TAB Highway Plate win at Randwick on 20 August.
