Canberra Racing Geared For Melbourne Cup Day

Canberra’s Melbourne Cup day meeting is always a cracker occasion and will be boosted this year with the likely presence of star local Single Gaze in the race that stops the nation.

The Nick Olive-trained Single Gaze comes off a second placing in the Caulfield Cup and has enthralled Canberra race-fans with her spring performances.

Local TABS and Clubs have been packed for her appearances and that’s sure to be replicated at Thoroughbred Park on Tuesday 7 November when a record crowd is anticipated.

The Canberra Race Club has printed and distributed posters titled ‘Go Single Gaze’ that are adorning shop fronts across the capital urging Canberrans to be trackside to support the mare in her epic Melbourne endeavour.

Trackside, the Cup day Fashions On The Field competition is now established as one of the nation’s best and this year brings aboard the Canberra Centre as the new naming rights sponsor.

Club Marketer Briony Young says the Canberra Centre “… has significant links in men’s and women’s fashion and the partnership is aimed at brand awareness and promoting the Fashions On The Field Competition to new competitors.”

Canberra Centre Manager Amanda Paradiso says she’s “looking forward to seeing the incredible style presented by the competitors on Melbourne Cup race day.”

The Melbourne Cup is run at 3:00pm and Single Gaze is currently posted at $34.00 for the $6.2 million contest.
