Bring A Secret Caps A Memorable Day For Trainer Nick Olive

Tony Campbell Cup Day was an occasion to remember for Canberra premiership trainer Nick Olive.

On top of the premiership, Olive took out a number of awards including Horse Of The Year — and to cap it off won his fourth Tony Campbell Memorial Cup when Bring A Secret saluted in the prestigious race.

Olive celebrated the day at the gala luncheon with a larger group of owners and friends and was delighted with Bring A Secret’s win.

He took the blinkers off to get Bring A Secret to settle and he did that powering home to win easily with Jeff Penza in the saddle.

Olive now has bigger fish to fry as he prepares Single Gaze for Saturday Group 1 Caulfield Stakes.

Meanwhile Canberra trainer Matt Dale has taken Everest contender Fell Swoop to the coast in preparation for Saturday’s $10 million contest.

Dale said the warmer weather was the key motivator. He said Fell Swoop’s coat had still not fully come out after a colder than usual Canberra winter and that the Moruya climate would bring him on.

Dale opened a stable at Moruya about five weeks ago to be used mainly for beach work.

Dale said he’s hoping for a bit of cut out of the track in the Everest following Fell Swoop’s lead-up run on a very firm surface. He said Fell Swoop is definitely at his best when there’s some give in the surface.
